On July 24, Lin Guangzhi, president of the Macau Chinese Macau Studies Association, director and professor of the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies at Macau University of Science and Technology, and executive deputy director of the Macau History Research Center of the Chinese Academy of History, led a delegation to Meizhou Island, the hometown of Mazu, for a visit and exchange.

Wu Guochun, vice chairman of the board of directors of the Meizhou Mazu Ancestral Temple, warmly welcomed the visiting group and accompanied Lin Guangzhi and others in a solemn Three-offering rite to Mazu. After the rite, the delegation, guided by staff, toured scenic spots such as the Meizhou Mazu Ancestral Temple and the Tianfei Hometown Site Park, taking in the beauty of the sacred site while gaining a deeper understanding of the origins and inheritance of Mazu culture.

Three-offering rite

Around noon, the visiting group held a discussion at the Ancestral Temple's Yingbinxuan Reception Hall. They carried out an in-depth exchange on how to deepen cooperation and jointly promote the spread of Mazu culture, in a lively atmosphere.

Discussion Session

"This is my first time coming to Meizhou Mazu Temple to pay respects to Mazu." Wu Lixun, president of the Macau Collectors Association, said that over the past several decades he has always admired Mazu culture. Visiting the Ancestral Temple in person and viewing Mazu's golden statue left him deeply delighted.

Lin Guangzhi said that the delegation's visit to Putian, Meizhou Island, and Meizhou Mazu Temple was, first, to pay respects to Mazu with reverence, and second, to deepen academic alignment and exchanges and cooperation with Putian University and Meizhou Mazu Temple. The trip was highly rewarding, and he hopes all parties will continue to strengthen ties, expand diverse cooperation, and work together to advance the academic study and living transmission of Mazu culture, contributing to building a community with a shared future for humanity and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
