On August 19, a 21-member youth exchange delegation from Bughang Middle School in South Korea visited the Meizhou Mazu Temple for exchange.
Led by a docent at the Ancestral Temple, the delegation toured the Meizhou Mazu Temple. The towering and ancient complex of temple buildings vividly tells the thousand-year development of Mazu belief and customs, drawing the students to stop and look around and experience the unique charm of Mazu culture.

Professor Park Hyun-kyu of Soonchunhyang University in South Korea, who led the group, said that organizing South Korean youths to visit and exchange at Meizhou Island and to take part in exchange and study activities with Meizhou Mazu Middle School not only helps South Korean young people learn about Mazu culture and appreciate the Mazu spirit, but also promotes diverse two-way cultural exchanges between young people of the two countries.

"This is my first time coming to Meizhou Island. The scenery here is beautiful, and the people are very friendly. I really like this island. Mazu is the goddess who protects the sea. It was my curiosity and longing for Mazu culture that brought me here," KIM JIYU, president of the ninth-grade student council at Bugwang Middle School in South Korea, said in an interview on site. "When I go back, I will share this experience and Mazu culture with my classmates in Korea."
