Across the ocean to pay homage at a sacred site: Brazilian overseas Chinese visit Meizhou Mazu Temple for exchange

On the afternoon of August 20, Chen Yonghui, president of the Brazilian Chinese and Overseas Chinese E-Commerce Association, led a delegation to Meizhou Island, Mazu's birthplace, for a visit and exchange.

Zhuang Meihua, executive vice chair of the board of Meizhou Mazu Temple, warmly welcomed the guests. She accompanied Chen Yonghui, president of the Brazilian Chinese and Overseas Chinese E-Commerce Association; Wu Yanjuan, Douyin Brazil and TikTok Brazil director; manager Xu Xiuyan; Lin Yong, director and legal adviser of the Bolivian Chamber of Commerce; Zhang Shenwan and Zhang Biying of Yisufei Supply Chain Group Co., Ltd.; Huang Shaofeng, deputy secretary-general of the South America Minnan Hometown Association Federation; and others as they solemnly performed the three-offering rite to Mazu.

After the ceremony, accompanied and guided by Ancestral Temple staff, the delegation toured Meizhou Mazu Temple, viewed the scenery of the sacred site, and experienced the depth of Mazu culture.

The next morning, the delegation went to Tianhou Hall on the south axis of the Ancestral Temple to attend the "Morning Worship of Mazu and Sutra Recitation for Blessings" ceremony. After the rite, guided by staff, they visited the Tianfei Hometown Heritage Park scenic area, further experiencing the extraordinary appeal of Mazu culture.
